Today was the day that it was in the 40's with a windchill in the 30's that I had to spent running around in a short-sleeved dress that barely comes to my knees and sandals. To say that I was cold was an understatement.
Thankfully we spent a lot of time underground in the metro so I was at least spared from the weather some of the time.
We had to dress nicely because we went to Moscow International University for a tour and it was planned that some of us would show our presentations to the students and staff there. We were all given topics before the trip to do presentations on to show at the Grott school in Saint Petersburg. Mine is on American Literature. Unfortunately we ran out of time and only had time for one of us to present, then we headed to lunch and left.
After leaving the school, we took the metro to the War of 1812 museum and spent about an hour there. On our way to the museum, we got to see the Moscow Triumphal Arch.
From Wikipedia: The third and the oldest surviving Triumphal Arch in Moscow was built in 1829–34 on Tverskaya Gate Square to Joseph Bové's designs in order to commemorate Russia's victory over Napoleon. It replaced an earlier wooden structure built by the veterans of the Napoleonic Wars in 1814.
Now we are all in the hotel lobby waiting to take a bus to the train station, where we will catch the overnight train to Saint Petersburg. If I remember correctly, we will arrive around 6AM to so, but I'm not positive.
