Yesterday we visited the Государственный Исторический музей, or the State Historical Museum. It's located on the Red Square and is an incredibly beautiful building.
This museum, founded in 1872, had artifacts ranging from the 6th century to the early 1900's. According to Wikipedia, the total number of pieces obtained by the museum is in the millions. My two favorite pieces were Ivan the Terrible's Cloak (pictured below) along with the last portrait ever done of Nicholas Romanov before his death (also pictured below).
We left the museum around 6:45, just in time to see the changing of the guard near at the eternal flame outside of the Kremlin.

Me and Ivan the Terrible's cloak!
The last portrait done of Nicholas Romanov.
We left the museum around 6:45, just in time to see the changing of the guard near at the eternal flame outside of the Kremlin.
After the changing of the guards, we walked along the wall of the Kremlin and took pictures.
Eventually, we came across this memorial for the Romanov family.
After some more walking, Milica and I headed back to the Red Square to take some more pictures of Saint Basil's Cathedral. This is absolutely my favorite place/landmark in Russia.
Today, we didn't do a whole lot. We had class until 1:30 and then met our Russian teacher at the Red Square to go inside the Kremlin. It is usually open until 5:00, but unfortunately, today, it was only open until 3:00 and we arrived at the Red Square around 2:45. So, instead, we headed to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. This is the cathedral in which Pussy Riot performed and were arrested. We were able to see the exact spot of their performance, but unfortunately were not allowed to take pictures inside the church.
Tomorrow we are heading to the city of Tver for the weekend where we will meet up with Russian students.

St Basil's looks amazing, like something out of a fairy tale. So beautiful!
